Good things take time
The evolution of Arthotel Gratschwirt
The building was first officially documented in 1636, and before coming into the possession of the Pircher family, it changed hands no fewer than twenty times. Since 1799, Gratschwirt has been an inn. The on-site chapel, with its Roman milestone, still bears witness to the strategic position of this former horse-changing station on one of the most important travel routes through the Alps.

A touch of art therapy on holiday
Throughout its long history, Gratschwirt has undergone numerous renovations and expansions. Today, a special focus is placed on showcasing modern art alongside traditional South Tyrolean craftsmanship. Take your time to appreciate the paintings, furniture, and wood and stone sculptures - you’ll find them throughout the hotel, in the Feng Shui garden, and even outside the building.
Committed to sustainability
Gratschwirt is also making a statement by implementing environmentally friendly practices. In our kitchen, we prioritise local and seasonal products, while our bathrooms are fitted with water-saving fixtures. The garden is irrigated with rainwater, and our electricity comes from hydropower - soon to be supplemented by solar energy in the new extension. Energy-efficient LED lighting further helps reduce electricity consumption. We separate and minimise waste wherever possible, particularly by avoiding single-use products. You, as our guest, decide how often your room is cleaned and when towels and bed linen should be changed. Our staff undergo regular training to promote sustainable practices and environmental awareness.
