Excursions for the whole family around Dobbiaco
When the sun shines, both locals and visitors head outdoors to enjoy the stunning nature that surrounds our charming village. A host of special attractions await, for young and old alike - including one of South Tyrol’s largest playgrounds, a natural bathing lake, a small wildlife park, and the region’s longest summer toboggan run. Sound exciting? Try them out in your walking holiday in the Alps!

The Dobbiaco Wildlife Park, also known as Trenker Wildlife Park, is located in Altschluderbach, directly opposite Gratschwirt. Many impressive animal species native to the Alps can be observed up close here: fallow and red deer, lynxes, mouflons, wild boars, pheasants, eagle owls, snowy owls, raccoons, ducks, geese, and many more await curious visitors. If you wish, you can purchase suitable feed for the animals. A playground is also available.

Just 500 metres from Gratschwirt lies one of South Tyrol’s largest playgrounds. Games, adventure, and movement, as well as relaxation, await visitors of all ages. Swings, seesaws, slides, sand pits, climbing frames, and many other features help develop agility, strength, and endurance through play. Particularly active visitors can also take advantage of a fitness trail. Those who prefer to relax can find a spot on one of the benches in the shade.
Nestled in nature, with unique views of the mountains of Val di Landro, the natural swimming lake of Dobbiaco awaits you. The lake is divided into a swimming and non-swimming area, and the water is purified without chlorine - perfect for an outing with the children or a refreshing dip after a hike or bike tour. Various sports fields, sanitary facilities, and a bar with a sun terrace are also available.

The Funbob at Monte Baranci in San Candido is the longest summer toboggan run in South Tyrol, stretching 1,739 metres. It consists of an aluminium track on which the bobs are fixed. Children as young as three can ride the Funbob with an accompanying adult, but even grown-ups are guaranteed endless fun! The speed can be controlled individually, with a maximum of 40 km/h and inclines ranging from 5% to 40%. In just a few minutes, you descend a total of 314 metres in altitude.
